Students packed the gym on March 9 to acknowledge the start of spring sports and gain excitement for what this season has to offer. With spring sports boasting the most athletes out of all seasons, the student body can look forward to cheering on their peers at athletic events.

The rally kicked off with a school cheer, followed by the national anthem performed by a saxophone quartet composed of sophomores Peyton Dalmacio, Shivank Gupta and Gowtham Krishnakumar and freshman Kevin Du. Cheer, coming off of a recent fourth place win at Nationals, took the floor with a routine to raise the spirit.

Students participated in a game to win house points. Fifteen students from each house played a game of telephone, with Orion winning the competition. Following the game, students running for an elected ASB position for the 2018-19 school year ran across the gym, spurring cheers from the crowd.

Similar to past rallies this year, each spring sport ran through the gym doors. An athlete from each sport and staff competed against each other in a game of Lightning. Sophomore and tennis player Justin Tam won the athlete game.

Dance Company closed out the rally performing to an arrangement of songs from musicians throughout history, from Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” to Beyoncé’s “Partition.” Dance will host its show “Breaking Ground” March 15-16 in the theater at 7 p.m.
