Toys for Tots is a charity that gives back during the holidays and students will get the opportunity to donate for three more days. Donations will be collected under the house Christmas trees in the student union.

Toys for Tots is an organization that collects new toys that people donate and gives the toys to less fortunate children in the community for Christmas. Many counties participate in this charity.

“I really think it’s important to remember our community during the holidays,” library media specialist Pam Quieros said. “It is also important for students to get involved because when they give gifts it really speaks to one of our P.R.I.D.E values, empathy, and putting yourself in other people’s shoes for ones that are less fortunate.”

This event stands out to many other charities because it ensures that many less fortunate children get toys for the holidays.

“Toys for Tots is important because there are families that can’t afford gifts for their children, and it’s great to give, especially during the holidays,” freshman Tammy Lin said.

Big companies such as the Walt Disney Company, Build-A-Bear and Toys “R” Us sponsor this cause, according to the Toys for Tots website.

People give back to others in many different ways during the holidays.

“My favorite way to give back to the community is by donating items like food, clothes and money for those who don’t have much of anything.” freshman Kayla Cantor said.

A variety of toys can be donated, such as dolls, board games and more. According to the Toys for Tots website, the only gifts not be accepted would be anything containing food or representing a weapon. A good note to consider while donating would be thinking about the popular items this year to receive.
