Athlete of the Month: Alyssa Ing
Name: Alyssa Ing
Grade: Sophomore
Sport and Level: Frosh Soph Track and Field (Long Distance 1600 team)
Years Playing: 2
Favorite Moment in a Meet: “The last 100 meters of my race, because all of my teammates are cheering me on, and it pushes me to finish.”
Inspiration: “I am inspired by my other teammates. When I see them training hard, it makes me want to push myself as well and improve my time…We’re always competing with each other, whether it’s in practice or during track meets. I think we bring the best out of each other.”
Motivation: “I first started doing track because I wanted to build my endurance for soccer. As I got more involved in the sport, I actually began to develop a passion for it. I cared when other people passed me in races, and I cared about beating times and breaking records. Track practices are always tough, but I get motivation from knowing there are other people faster than me. I’ve always been a competitive person, and I always want to push myself in everything I do.”
Finding Balance: “Because I do sports in different seasons, it’s easier to balance my work since I just have to focus on one sport each season. I’ve been doing club soccer outside of school, so I’ve had previous experience juggling between sports and school. I think of track as just another class in school, so I try to balance my time with all my classes.”
