ASB, in collaboration with the visual and performing arts department and yearbook, hosted the second annual Spring Festival on the chilly evening of May 31, converting the outside amphitheater to a complete Bulldog community experience comprised of activities, food and live music.

I definitely like that it’s a relaxing event, and hopefully it will be a nice brain break before finals, where you can just relax with your friends and reflect on the year. I love the vibe that we have here tonight.

“This year we really wanted to collaborate with music and yearbook and make it an event that everybody is super happy about and excited to be here,” co-activities director Emily Sheridan said. “I definitely like that it’s a relaxing event, and hopefully it will be a nice brain break before finals, where you can just relax with your friends and reflect on the year. I love the vibe that we have here tonight.”

At the jousting inflatables station, students lined up to compete against a friend and decide who has better balance and agility, while the soccer darts arena challenged them to kick the ball as strong and accurate as possible. Other students signed yearbooks at designated table or talked in groups near the performance stage.

“It was a long process planning this event; we started talking about this right after winter break,” ASB treasurer and junior Mihika Nerurkar said. “We had to work on ordering food ahead of time. We had to work on getting the soccer dart and jousting inflatables. Overall, though, we were going for a really chill, cozy vibe with blankets and fun.”

The outdoor concert featured students from Guitar 1, Guitar 2 and Studio Music classes. Studio Music had groups of four-to-five students performing some of their original compositions, while Guitar 1 and Guitar 2 students strummed pop music.

“There was one where they had a whole band, and some where they only had a few people up there, and the music itself was really different,” freshman Ryan Yang said. “They were constantly playing throughout the entire concert and festival, which I thought also added to the amount of fun we could have.”
