Whether we are listening to “Havana” by Camila Cabello or practicing Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata,” music has become a staple of society. Some artists such as Michael Jackson, Elton John and the Beatles have managed to keep their music relevant for more than 20 years since their heydays of making music, but the question remains: what modern artists will still be relevant in the future?

Bruno Mars has become our generation’s Michael Jackson with his 90s-style music and prominent dancing. Mars’ electrifying songs as well as his charming personality have allowed him to become one of the most successful musicians of our generation with 10 Grammy Awards, including 3 Grammy wins at the most recent award show according to the Grammy Foundation. With seven Billboard Hot 100 hits in his eight year career, starting with “Just The Way You Are” in 2010 and more recently hitting the mark with “That’s What I Like” in 2017  according to the Billboard charts, Mars has become the prime example of what it means to be a successful musician. His recent hit “Finesse” featuring Cardi B is a displays his timeless style and his ability to take music styles from older generations and allow them to shine.

Drake has become a star rapper of our generation with 154 songs that have charted on the Billboard Hot 100 according to the Billboard charts. With a career spanning over 12 years starting with “Room for Improvement” and more recently releasing “Scary Hours,” Drake has been one of the more popular artists for a long time. His most recent album, which contained the record-breaking song “God’s Plan,” has currently held the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for over three consecutive weeks according to the Billboard charts. In addition to his musical prowess, Drake has been notable throughout his career for being a cultural icon as the global ambassador for the Toronto Raptors, ensuring that his impact on the world will stay for many years to come.

At only 29 years old, Adele has already made her mark as one of the most skilled female singers of all time with her three record-breaking albums, “19”, “21” and “25”. Each album has received more acclaim than the previous. With emotional songs such as “Someone Like You” and “Hello,” Adele’s transcendental music has allowed her album, “21”, to stay at #1 in the United States for 21 consecutive weeks according to the Billboard charts. Adele has elevated her career to a high standard with 15 Grammys and remains one of the top-award winners of all time.

Finally, Beyonce is one of the best-selling artists of all-time with an astonishing 100 million records that she has sold as a solo artist as well as an additional 60 million records with her group according to the Grammy Foundation. Beyonce´s angelic yet strong voice has allowed her to extend her success as at 34, her 6th album, “Lemonade” was the top album of 2016.
