Naila Talib, Staff Writer

Naila Talib is one of the Portola Pilot’s staff writers, and is so excited to be joining the crew for the first time! She is extremely grateful to be a part of such an amazing community and cannot wait to collaborate with the other writers. Other than journalism, Naila is apart of Portola’s peer suicide prevention program, Hope Squad, and has a deep interest in the Chinese language and culture. In her free time, she also likes to write poetry, playing the guitar, and baking!

In accordance with Muslim tradition and to avoid distraction, most prayers including Eid Namaz are practiced so that the men and women are divided into separate sections. Prayer rugs are also often used to ensure that the prayer space is clean, if it is not in a mosque, and the patterns on these rugs usually depict religious themes to better connect with God (Allah).

For those on a gluten-free diet, this crispy breaded shrimp from China Moon Restaurant is an excellent choice. With a light, starchy breading over a flavorful mini salad, this shrimp dish is popular for good reason. Although China Moon Restaurant does not offer delivery options, it is well worth the trip for takeout considering the array of gluten-free options and the many precautions they take to avoid gluten contamination.
